Shanghai, China, 18 July 2024 - Toshiba Electronic Components and Storage Devices Corporation ("Toshiba") today announced a new series of eight compact high-voltage electronic fuse ICs (eFuse ICs) - the -The TCKE9 series supports a wide range of power line protection functions. The first two products, "TCKE903NL" and "TCKE905ANA", are available for volume shipment today, with others to follow.
The TCKE9 series of products features current limiting and voltage clamping to protect lines in supply circuits from overcurrent and overvoltage conditions in a way that standard physical fuses cannot. Specified currents and voltages are maintained even when abnormal overcurrents or overvoltages occur.
In addition, the new product features overheat and short-circuit protection, which protects circuits by immediately shutting down the eFuse IC when abnormal heat is generated in the circuit or an accidental short-circuit occurs. eFuse ICs also offer the advantage of eliminating complex circuit designs and reducing the number of components - allowing simpler circuits to be realised than if discrete parts were used to implement the protection function. enables simpler circuit designs, using fewer components and a smaller area than using discrete parts to achieve protection.
Toshiba is in the process of obtaining certification for the eFuse ICs to the international high-level safety standard IEC 62368-1, which will also simplify the certification testing required for customer devices.
Currently, the series includes eight products covering four voltage levels - 3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V and 20 V - for overvoltage protection at various supply voltages, with two types for each voltage - an auto-retry type (eFuse IC automatic recovery circuit) and a latch type (recovery triggered by an external signal). Customers can choose the right product according to their needs and equipment size.
Reference designs for eFuse IC application circuits (with thermal shutdown) and eFuse IC application circuits (with enhanced overcurrent protection) are now available on Toshiba's official website.
