Samsung NAND flash memory chips, price hike of 15-20%

Recently, it has been reported that Samsung plans to renegotiate NAND flash memory prices with major mobile, PC and server customers between this month and next month, aiming to raise prices by 15-20%.

After more than a year of oversupply, Samsung's NAND flash selling price was once flat cost, so it plans to negotiate with major customers to bring the price back to a reasonable level.

Research organisation TrendForce data shows that global NAND Flash industry revenue reached $11.49 billion in the fourth quarter of 2023, up 24.5% quarter-on-quarter. This growth was mainly benefited from a year-on-year surge in memory chip shipments as terminal demand warmed up due to year-end promotions and expanded orders from the parts market. Among them, Samsung still maintains its leadership position, with Q4 2023 NAND revenue of $4.2 billion, a 44.8% year-on-year surge, which was also the highest among vendors. The average unit price of Samsung NAND products sold rose 12% YoY.

Recently, General Manager of Huirong also said that the memory recovery situation that started in the second half of 2023 will continue in 2024 and will even continue until the first half of 2025. Currently, the prices of NAND Flash for the second quarter have all been negotiated and are expected to increase by 20%.
