According to Evertiq, global semiconductor company Analog Devices, Inc.(ADI) plans to make a major investment in its semiconductor fab in Beaverton, Oregon. Built in 1978, the facility is ADI's highest-volume wafer fabrication facility.ADI plans to invest nearly $1 billion to expand cleanroom space to approximately 118,000 square feet and nearly double in-house manufacturing of products at the 180-nanometer technology node.
Prior to this, ADI announced its second quarter 2023 financial results, with 13 consecutive quarters of record quarter-over-quarter growth and revenues of $3.26 billion, up 10% year-over-year. The industrial and automotive markets continued to gain momentum, with the industrial market growing 16% year-over-year and 3% sequentially, a record high; the automotive market grew 24% year-over-year and 10% sequentially, which together drove ADI's results to exceed expectations.
It is worth mentioning that ADI's performance in terms of profitability is impressive, the financial report shows that the quarter's gross profit margin of nearly 74%, operating profit margin of more than 51%, showing the ADI products in the market innovation premium, but also its year-on-year harvest 18% EPS growth.
ADI executives have emphasized the strong growth of the industrial sector. According to the data, ADI's growth in the automotive field is the highest, followed by the industrial market, the communications market ranked third, the consumer-grade market declined slightly.
As an analog chip, ADI's products are mainly used to connect the real world and the digital world, although there is no digital chip as advanced as the process, but for the public to know the products include power management chip PMIC, RF class IC, LED driver IC, digital-to-analog converter, various types of interface chips.
At present, the two giants of the global analog chip market have deep accumulation in the industrial and automotive fields, which is one of the factors that have enabled these two companies to maintain stable growth despite the market pressure last year.
